About

Starship Excelsior is an audio drama set in Gene Roddenberry's Star Trek universe. The show and its bible adhere closely to the Roddenberry vision of mankind in the twenty-fourth century: we've evolved ** . We're more powerful. We're more advanced. And, most importantly, we've developed something greater inside of ourselves. We have become more human.

Yet conflict springs eternal. At the edge of the galaxy, the U.S.S. Excelsior is a Sovereign-class guardian of peace, one of the greatest tools for peacekeeping in a largely unexplored, conflicted quadrant. The ship and her crew will have to draw on every dram of their evolution to both survive and forward Starfleet's greatest mission: To boldly go where no one has gone before!

The Excelsior drama, behind the scenes, is more than a formulaic Star Trek adventure. It is the first such drama to be based purely and rather faithfully on the events played out in an RPG-simm open to the public. The "real" Excelsior is a proud member of the RPG federation Bravo Fleet, and operates out of Task Force 38, Group Kusanagi. Stories are written by volunteers, each playing a particular character of their conception (I wrote and play Alcar Dovan, for example), working together in a somewhat haphazard manner to put together something that will eventually make some sort of sense. It continues to amaze me how it works at all, much less that it is successful as it is.

Special thanks are due to our entire chain of command, notably Captain Penny T. Thrace of Starbase 900, Admiral Walter Tenson of the U.S.S. Tornado, and, of course, the Bravo Fleet Admiralty, headed by Fleet Admiral Robert Chadwick.

Starship Excelsior
The Excelsior Returns Arc, Act I: "...There You Are"
Production No. #100
Special Notes: Proof-of-Concept/Pilot

General Outline: The Excelsior brings aboard crew and gets underway on its mysterious first mission, while the crew faces conflict from within. A show more about characters than story, which makes it an excellent candidate for a test episode where we can work out our kinks. Because, as Enterprise clearly proved, kinky is not the way to go. (Vulcan Neuropressure burrrrrrrrrn!)

** (If you felt the overwhelming urge, upon reading, "we've evolved," to add, "we rebelled... there are many copies... and we have a plan!" then you both need to get a life and would make a perfect cast member. Please, audition!)
